David McKay earned a BA in Political Science from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oregon. While at Oregon, David focused on environmental policy analysis, serving as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management. He has interned in the Oregon Governor’s Office as a policy researcher and technical writer for the state’s Ten Year Energy Action Plan, and has acted as a project associate for the Oregon Department of Justice, researching the cost and distribution of services for victim assistance programs in Oregon counties.
David brings tremendous talent in facilitation, qualitative research, and assessment. He has a unique ability to quickly foster an environment of trust that supports effective communication, interviewing and social research data collection. He specializes in complex, multi-party dynamics and brings a calm, thoughtful approach to all of his engagements.
David is also a competitive runner who has taken his passion for the sport and the outdoors to the trail and mountain scene. He has competed for the University of Oregon Running Club and was twice an All-American in cross country at Luther College where he received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He recently had a top finish at the Pikes Peak Ascent in Colorado and won his marathon debut in Alaska.
